While at the party, my car was broken into! I always put anything in the trunk but Jesus left a scarf and some gloves out on the seat. Anyways, so ALL my c.d.'s were stolen. If you have been reading my LJ for a while, you will realise I have somewhat of a large collection. When noticing all of this, I had a bad feeling in my stomach. They also stole Jesus's scarf, gloves, and a few Christmas C.D.'s. Great.

As an epilogue, I later found out about 90% of my music was backed up onto my iPod. That isn't so bad.

I also figure that these sorts of people will just continue to do this sort of thing and they are obviously not bright so they will be caught eventually anyways.

As you can imagine, I spent the rest of the weekend and most of the evenings up until now trying to make insurance claims, purchase missing songs, and so forth. Not only the obvious with this situation but it is also a big waste of time.

While I've been reading my flist pretty consistantly, I've pretty much stopped posting in my journal. After a few failed attempts at restarting, I'm calling it quits: no more lj posts.

Instead, I've moved to nounsasverbs dot blogspot dot com.

That is all.

...because we had the Vallowes over. They are close family friends and were originally supposed to join us on Christmas Eve but they were ultimately unable. We all had a great dinner together. My father was there and a bit embarrassing but I apologised to everyone after he left and...he will not be joining us again for holiday dinners [at least for a long time.]

So, Happy New Years!

Oh and the weekend before, I forgot to mention, I did a movie night with Jesus. We watched "Angels and Demons," "Public Enemy," and "Coraline." I ABSOLUTELY LOVED "Angels and Demons." Even though Johnny Depp is always a star, I felt "Public Enemy" was repetitive and boring. "Coraline" was cute and visually stunning.

and back to the present...well, kind of... I spent Saturday getting things done and went out with Jesus, Estefany, and her friend to Homosonic at the Black Cat. We all had a great deal of fun. I figure that was my New Years party.

I have practically been living out of my bags for the past month. But not to worry! It's only because I have been traveling so much. I went to Ringgold to help my mom decorate for Christmas, then I came to Baltimore to spend some time with Cyrus, and we got snowed the fuck in. The snow practically came up to my knees! After I left, I spent a night in Richmond, then went back to Ringgold for a few days. I got to meet Mike's son, Matthew, his wife Amanda, and their adorable, sweet little girl named Alli(gator). Mike gave my mom an engagement ring for Christmas. We played a lot of card games and built a gingerbread house, which I'd never done before.

I spent half of Christmas day there, then drove to see my dad's family in Rustburg. We all watched the Hangover together, then one of my Christmas faves, the Muppet Christmas Carol. Kim, Lovey, and Jake came up from GA late that night. Some of us stayed up until 5am watching District 9, which was much different than I was expecting. The next night, pretty much everyone joined in on some drinking games and we had a blast. We got obliterated, and a sober aunt Debby took us to IHOP (the T Room was closed! Booo!). That might be the only time IHOP has ever actually tasted good.

I stayed there for a few days, then met Cyrus in Richmond for my birthday. He took me out to eat, and we went to see Lemuria. We stayed in RVA until NYE, then went to Olney to hang out with some of his friends. We came back to Baltimore on New Year's Day and have been here ever since. I've logged at least 900 miles just on my car.

I didn't get much for Christmas this year and I'm okay with that. I let myself expect nothing, and I had the best Christmas ever. Spending time with the Hunts was so fantastic, and what I needed. I have to admit it's always been a bummer reading my friends' Christmas Haul lists, because I feel like everyone in the world has more than I do, but I'm going to stop feeling sorry for myself.

Besides Cyrus taking me out, I didn't get anything for my birthday. No cards, and not even a phone call from my dad--he just texted me later saying oops. Birthday is different for me. I'd rather be spoiled on my birthday, but I usually don't get much because no one has any money since it's so close to Christmas. It totally sucks and I do not recommend having a child at this time of year. Anyway, feeling sorry for myself, there I go.

I've always felt like the world owes me something because I felt like I never had enough growing up. I've also realized that I can be controlling and bossy and I had no idea. I have to let myself relinquish control and let things happen as they will. It will create less stress for everyone. Manipulation is also something that came up recently, and it's not the first time I've been told I'm manipulative. I don't really know exactly what it is I'm doing, because I'm not conscious of it. But I'm trying to make changes for the better and become a better person.

I also wish I took more pictures. I'm going to start from now on. Okay.

Year in Review. (part 2) [Jan. 4th, 2010|07:03 pm]

[music |"НИЧЕГО НЕ ОСТАЛОСЬ " - Анастезия]

Over the summer, the house was going well and I was tied up at the Department of Homeland Security. Then, things came to a screeching halt. I had to fire my contractor and complete the work myself along with a few people I hired as replacements and my father. A few weeks later, I left the Department of Homeland Security to join in on a contract supporting a local, HUGE court system. That was basically my Autumn as well. I then went through yet another contractor before Finding Edwin who was great and finished the job.

As far as my dating life, I had a few short - lived relationships to talk about because people are crap. Really, nothing to discuss there.

I am hopeful for 2010 and we shall see where things go. Oh, and yea, "happy new year."

As far as my New Year's eve, I did not go out. A few friends in town were originally supposed to throw a house party but that ended up as them going to a grodey, divey nightclub. "I will pass on that, thanks."

New Years day was a bit more fun. I went over to Ed's house since we needed to meet about the company we are thinking of starting. After that, I went to the family home because...

Ah, yes it's that time AGAIN. [Can we act as 2009 just didn't happen?]

It was the year where the world went bankrupt. On a more personal level, these are my events in a nutshell:

The first week of the year was abrupt, like a slap in the face. In the three months before, I was being paid to stay at home. This allowed me to catch up on a LOT of things. However, Jan. 2 was my first day at the Department of Homeland Security, a very difficult assignment. The work was not particularly difficult but some of the people I had to work for/with. I also had to deal with a lot of issues commuting. On the other hand, I met a lot of great people and built a lot of good relationships.

By about Feburary [it's a bit hazy], I had the condo sold and I was moving on to my next project. By May/June, I bought my current project, the house on Taylor Street. Unfortunately, the bankers with whom I was working were extremely bureaucratic and I was having to spend weeks and weeks filling out paper work...

When Hell Froze Over, Part II [Jan. 2nd, 2010|04:58 pm]

[music |"ЭТОТ МИР" - Анастезия]

By Sunday, the snow stopped, we all shoveled and I was able to make it out and about by the afternoon.

For a few other thoughts...

I was recently reading an article about the recent discovery of many caves filled with Chinese art and manuscript treasures in Western China. This was along the Silk Road and many of the former trade routes in the European - Asian trade routes during the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries. Noting that most of these trade routes lie in present day countries which have totalitarian governments hostile to the West, it would be interesting to know what is still out there.

I've been reading a lot recently about things which involve art especially during World War II. For example, I would say some of the pieces in Buda Palace which disappeared shortly after the beginning of Soviet occupation. It would be interesting to speculate that some of these "lost" items would have been taken by Soviet leadership and have since been moved to private individuals. Even though this many sound somewhat conspiracy - theory - like, and example of this could be Courbet's "Femme nue couchee." Just an interesting speculation...

Oh, shyte, so I entirely failed to mention my experiences with the snow storm...that big one.

Friday - It was starting that night and was still going to work on the house. I left when there was about an inch or two of snow on my car. I made it back to the 'burbs in an hour or so which is not bad at all. Then the fun starts. Every major road was "bumper to bumper" and there is something wrong with my tires so I do not have as much traction as I should have. I decided to take some side - roads which were less hilly. It turns out, even on small hills, people were going one by one up the hill with a line of cars and their emergency lights on because they were unable to make it. So, I figured they were going to sit there until the freeze to death or something. Stupidity. As well, the plows were not even out which I thought was a bit annoying. I FINALLY got home four hours later.

Saturday - I just let the snow come. I was not even going to touch that.

During some down time at the office, I was able to write up my supplementary documentation piece for my tool/side project including parts on quantitative risk hedging and application of ambient streaming. Umm...more on that later.

My agent [who is starting to be like my real estate mom] took photos of the house on 12/28. She was extremely impressed. She had not seen it recently and this project was a gut renovation so she saw a great deal of changes. I am going to get her photos to post here. We are to be holding an open house soon so I am putting together a list of agents and real estate people I know who may come and bring a sale. I am shooting to have at least 25+ parties come in a three hour period. It is do-able.

Back to my side project/tool. I was actually contacted by a company about it. While they shall remain nameless, they were recently named one of the top ten start - ups in 2009 by "Time" magazine. We talked for a while and they are looking to possibly partner with me.

About that last post, it was just a pretty house in the snow I thought. Lol...

Anyways, I'm just going to pick up with the holidays. I rushed around Thursday to get everything together for Church and the dinner after. We went with Pat, Don, and their family for the mass. Unfortunately, when I go to Church, I need a drink after. Then, we had one of our HUGE Polish Christmas Eve dinner. Olga and Jason joined us as well. After tons of eating food and drinking liquor, we all went to bed.

Christmas morning was great as it usually. Aside from that, I spent the day catching up on things and relaxing...for once. Over the weekend, I was able to get almost all my "chores" done. This is a major accomplishment, let me tell you...

At the moment, I am being tormented by a ten year old so bear with me...

Aside, Monday was back to work. Ugh, the office...

To continue to catch up on everything, I had a..."bad romance" with a boy. We shall call him Ryan. He's horrible. He'll be back. I'll take revenge. This sounds like a math problem. I think the answer is "5."

At the end of said romance, Marc wants back. Marc, good luck on that one.

With all the trials of finishing the house, here are one of a few photos from the first winter storm:

My last post was December 5, so let me catch up a bit. "I'll get there when I get there."

Anyways, about that that first snow storm. The problem is not with the snow itself but more like the other people on the road. So a few weeks passed by with me at work and then working at the house whenever I am not in the office.

I have been having a lot of problems at work for a while. It is not my fault but...I just don't know with that... Anyways, a few weeks back it was like someone threw on a switch and they love me. I think there's something going on there but whatever.

Firstly, I would like to say as of yesterday, THE HOUSE IS FINALLY DONE!

Also...

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

(I'll get to the rest later...)
